 Designer Inspiration with Katie Gannon of Mother MariaWhat were your Influences & Inspirations for Summer 08/09? Fun and colourful cowboys and Indians type themes. Apache influenced colours like turquoise and blood orange. Any Colours/Colour Combinations or patterns that are inspiring you right now? Really bright fun colours, and nature influenced prints. Tropical flower prints, orchards, vines.... Celebrity (Past or Present) Style Inspirations? I always love the natural folk looks of girls like Vanessa Paradis and Abbie Cornish What do you do to relax, get focused or get inspired? Sleep and rest is the key! Spending all day trying to think of new designs can be extrememly stressful and distracting. Just by laying down, resting and letting the mind focus, thoughts of new colours and styles usually come to me much more easily. Favourite pieces from her own summer range and why? The picnic in pery dress is probably my favourite. It is long, flowy and suits just about anyone. It's a very feminine dress, but can be accessorised to suit anyone's personal style. Anyone personally who inspires and why? I am very insipred by the beautiful desings of Lover. I think Nick and Susien are pure genious! Any quirky combinations of clothing, colour or patterns that you especially like right now? I am really liking weird looking hats and hair accessories. The more vintage looking the better! Summer 08/09 must have item? Bright strappy sandals. There are some fabulous styles in the little boutiques in Bali at the moment. I wish I could bring them all home with me but I have no room in my suitcase! What is an ideal or perfect day? A delicious breakfast in a cafe with good company, followed by snorkelling somewhere warm and rich in corals and fish life, then a laze around in the sun, followed by afternoon drinks and more yummy food!  |
