These are some of the exciting new beauty products I’ve had the privilege of testing recently. Admittedly I am very spoiled and have the opportunity to try a lot of new beauty products hitting the market. Sometimes it’s hard to narrow down just a few favourites, other times there are clear winners. This month I’ve given not a second thought to recommending you invest at least part of your beauty budget in trying one of these!
Redken Smooth Lock Range
If you’re anything like me and the thought of smooth, manageable, un-fluffy hair is a pipe dream, you’ll love this new range from Redken. I was already a fan of the Redken All Soft range so was really excited to be able to try these new products that claim to “effortlessly achieve the smooth hair you’ve always dreamed of” – and yes, that pretty damn accurate.
I’m very happy to say that after using the Smooth Lock Shampoo and Conditioner for a few weeks now, my hair does actually feel a lot more manageable, and yes, smoother and frizz-free. I will generally use my GHD Straightening Iron after each wash and on that first day it usually seems a little ‘fluffy’ still. I found that after using the Smooth Lock Shampoo and Conditioner with the Head Glide protective smoother, my hair felt and looked thicker, AND definitely less fly-away. I also love the Intensive rinse-out treatment, which you only need to leave in for 5- 15 minutes then rinse out.
Smooth Lock Shampoo, 300ml, RRP $22.95; Smooth Lock Conditioner, 250ml, RRP $22.95; Smooth Lock Heat Glide, 150ml, $29; Smooth Lock Buttersilk Treatment, 250ml, $35.50, www.redken.com.au
The Flora Garden Collection by GUCCI
Once again, having already been a fan of the traditional Flora by GUCCI, I couldn’t wait to try the NEW Flora Garden Collection. Comprising of 3 new fragrances, Gorgeous Gardenia, Gracious Tuberose, Glamorous Magnolia (for which I tried all 3), it was the Gorgeous Gardenia that won my heart.
Sweet, light and fruity, I haven’t decided yet if it will push the traditional Flora by Gucci of it’s throne in my cabinet however it’s definitely one of my new fragrance favourites.
GUCCI Gorgeous Gardenia. Eau de Toilette, 50mL, $109.00; Eau de Toilette, 100mL, $164.00, 02 9695 5678
Lancome Liner Plume
When it comes to eye makeup this season, the liquid lined cat eye look has been huge. Although I love the look, I’ve never felt confident using liquid liners. I tried years ago and the outcome was definitely nothing like intended. I concluded that it was one makeup technique that might take more than a little practice so I went back to my comfort zone of using an eyeliner pencil and didn’t give things a second though until I was sent the new Lancome Liner to try.
With a precise tip and rich colour, it was actually much easier to use than I expected. Keeping a steady hand I easily drew a smooth line all the way along my upper lashes, extending it just a little bit further than the end with a small flick. Whala! Sexy cat eye makeup success! I didn’t think I had it in me. I’m now totally addicted to using my new liquid liner.
Lancome Liner Plume, $42, 03 8680 0000
Liquid liner tip:
If you don’t have a steady hand, rest your elbow onto your bathroom vanity top so it can help steady your application.

This primer is absolutely divine! It glides on and is so nourishing when you put it on that it almost feels like a light moisturiser. The description from jane iredale states “Skin feels nourished and looks smoother. Makeup goes on more easily and lasts longer.” – All true. It also has a light fresh fragrance that reflects the yummy ingredients that it’s made with.
